Annika Rossebo

Position title: President


I’m so excited to be President of BMES this year after previously serving as Communications Officer, Webmaster, and Freshman Rep! I am also a part of the BME Visibility Committee and work as a Research Intern for the Abdominal Image-Guided Interventions Laboratory in the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. Outside of these events, I love reading, traveling, and spending time on Wisconsin’s many lakes. I’m looking forward to working with the other BMES officers to create great professional and social events to spread interest and involvement in Biomedical Engineering!

Lindsey Weiss

Position title: Vice President


I am a Senior at UW majoring in Biomedical Engineering with an emphasis in Biomaterials & Tissue Engineering. Outside of school, I enjoy running, photography, and attending any Wisconsin sporting event. I have had multiple internships in the medical device and biopharmaceutical space and would love to share my experiences with anyone that is interested!

Ava Asbury

Position title: Secretary


From year one of college, I have been drawn to Biomedical Engineering because we have the opportunity to make a positive impact on people’s lives in so many different ways. I am going into my third year of BME with a focus on bioinstrumentation, though I plan to take as many diverse classes as I can fit into my schedule. Outside of BMES, I am a part of EWB, university band, and work as a CNA. I am excited to be an officer this year and am looking forward to making new connections within BMES and continuing to learn and grow!

Tanishka Sheth

Position title: Treasurer


I’m a sophomore in biomedical engineering, and I’m super excited to be the treasurer this year! I hope to help allocate our resources for new events and activities through BMES. I’m also involved with the Society of Women Engineers and Engineers Without Borders.

Ellie Wacker

Position title: Department Relations


I am a junior pursuing a degree in Biomedical Engineering with certificates in Leadership and Health Policy. In addition to BMES, I am involved in Queer Trans Engineers and Fiction Writers’ Association. I joined Dr. Kristyn Masters’ lab last year and am excited to finally begin working there in person this fall! As your Department Relations chair, I hope to foster connections with faculty and expose BMEs to the amazing research happening in our department; that being said, if you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to reach out.

Alexis Karls

Position title: Industry Relations Chair


My name is Alexis, and I am the Industry Relations Chair this year. I am a junior and have been an active member of BMES since freshman year. Outside of school and BMES, I enjoy exploring national and state parks, boating, playing sports, and hanging out with friends. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone this year and learning about amazing opportunities in the field!

Lily Jaeger

Position title: Diversity and Inclusion Chair


As a fourth-year biomechanics track, I am excited to continue working towards a degree that combines my interests in healthcare and innovation. I am looking forward to leading the diversity & inclusion committee as we continue to highlight marginalized voices, improve representation, and promote a more open environment in BME!

Vanessa Obrycki

I am a junior studying Biomedical Engineering on the Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering track. I am involved with research at the Audhya Lab on campus and love to work out, cook, bake and help others. As the Campus Involvement Chair, I hope to get people excited about the opportunities BMES and this beautiful campus have to offer!

Harshal Kanade

Position title: Co-Social Chair


I am a Freshman majoring in BME and Data Science and I’m grateful for all the opportunities BME has given me in my future field. As a part of the social committee, I want to get more people interested in joining BMES and allow them to experience these same opportunities! Other hobbies I have include sheepshead club, Warhammer, and reading!

Loukia Agoudemos

I am very excited to be this year’s Webmaster and Communications officer. I am a sophomore this year studying Biomedical Engineering here at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I hope through my work in BMES, we can grow our organization to be even bigger and better and leave a lasting impact on our campus community! Outside of BMES, I am also involved in the Society of Women Engineers and research at the Masters Lab on campus.

Soniya Patel

Hi, everyone! My name is Soniya Patel, and I’m a sophomore majoring in BME (and also premed) and my intended track is biomechanics. I am a part of microbiology research lab here on campus. My favorite hobbies include weightlifting, reading, and spending time outside!!

Anna Balstad

Position title: Freshman Representative


I am a freshman studying biomedical engineering on the biomechanics track. I am excited to pursue biomedical engineering and combine my interests in math and science in hopes of bettering the medical field. As the freshman representative, I will organize events and share ideas with the other officers to share the many opportunities BMES offers underclassmen!
